Who we are
This website is run by T.Rex Design Limited, registered in England and Wales (company number 5012422, VAT number 874235412), with its registered office at 36 Tyndall Court, Peterborough PE2 6LR. We decide how the personal information collected through this website is used, which makes us its “controller” under UK data protection law.
Questions about this policy or your information? Call us on 01733 518 007, email hello@trexdesign.co.uk, write to us at the address above, or get in touch through our contact page.
What we collect
When you send us an enquiry. Our form asks for your name and email address, and, if you choose to give them, your company name, phone number and a message. It also notes which page of the site you sent it from. That’s all it collects.
When you browse the site. Unless you opt out, Google Analytics records how the site is used: the pages you visit, how you got here, the links and buttons you click, and general details about your device, browser and rough location (your town or region, never your address). We use this only in summary, to see what’s working and improve the site. We can’t tell who you are from it.
When you contact us another way. If you phone, email or write to us, we keep what’s needed to reply and to carry on the conversation.
How we use it, and why we’re allowed to
- To reply to your enquiry and talk about your project. This is in our legitimate interests, and yours, as you’ve asked us to get in touch.
- To carry out work we agree to do for you. This is needed for our contract with you.
- To understand how the site is used, through Google Analytics, so we can improve it. This is in our legitimate interests, and you can opt out at any time.
- To keep proper business records, where the law requires it.
We won’t add you to a mailing list, sell your details, or pass them to anyone to market to you.
Cookies
The only cookies on this site are Google Analytics’ (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID). They collect statistics about how the site is used, so we can improve it, and nothing else. UK law allows cookies used only for this without asking first, as long as we tell you about them and you can say no.
We’ve set Google Analytics up for statistics alone: Google doesn’t use the information for advertising or to build a profile of you, and we don’t share it with anyone else.
You can opt out at any time with the button below. Google Analytics then sends nothing from your visits, sets no cookies and removes the ones it has already set. We remember your choice in your browser’s storage (under the name trex:consent); it stays on your device and isn’t sent to us. If you clear your browser’s storage, or use another browser or device, you’ll need to opt out again there.
Analytics is on.
We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t run adverts or tracking for other companies.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of trusted services to run the website. Each acts only on our instructions and must keep your information secure:
- Vercel hosts the website. Like any web host, its servers briefly log technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Resend delivers the details you send through our enquiry form to our inbox.
- Google provides Google Analytics, unless you opt out.
Some of these companies are based in, or store information in, the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK–US Data Bridge or the UK’s approved contract terms.
We’ll only share your information with anyone else if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to two years after we last heard from you, then deleted.
- Clients: for as long as we work together, then for six years, as tax and company law requires.
- Google Analytics: no longer than 14 months, after which Google deletes it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that’s wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- object to us using it, or ask us to limit how we use it
- ask us to pass it to you, or to another organisation, in a common format
- opt out of Google Analytics at any time, using the button in the Cookies section above
To use any of these rights, get in touch using the details above. It’s free, and we’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Keeping it safe
The whole site is served over a secure, encrypted connection, and we only keep your information where it’s needed. No way of sending information over the internet is completely secure, but we take care to protect what you send us.
